Laurel Vogel, MA

After years of practicing as a counselor in a traditional setting, my sense that the artificial atmosphere of the therapy office was not contributing to emotional well-being grew too large for me to continue to ignore.  Because of my incredible healing experiences in the natural world and my studies in Ecopsychology in my M. A. program, my partner and I began to experiment with therapeutic healing methods in the outdoors with clients.  From the start, we had stunning success with our Nature Therapy Retreats, and I realized there was no looking back.  Combining my partner's 25 years of experience in counseling couples with my knowledge in ecotherapy created a unique healing environment--one that is fun, challenging, and more efficient than any of the traditional therapy experiences or settings we had previously experienced.

I also implement a contemplative path in my work, as I find it is essential in helping clients connect with their bodies, and slow down enough to be able to identify and articulate their sensations and emotions. My relational/contemplative approach is blended from my experiences, and is grounded in my writing practice. (See my blog)

PERSONAL THERAPY, SUPERVISION AND EDUCATION

Continued learning is crucial to competent therapy. As such, I take courses and research the most current literature, regularly attend conferences, and participate in ongoing confidential supervision and consultation. Currently I am engaged in a study course on Attachment and Neurobiology.

"The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places."

—Ernest Hemingway,
A Farewell to Arms

As a writer, I continually research and study relevant literature that integrates science with the art of relationship and emotional well-being.

Serving clients requires self-care. For my own well-being I participate in personal therapy and meditation practice.
